What a Day!
A long while later, Daddy came home. You'd think that I would be happy, and I was at first, but then I got closer. DADDY SMELLED LIKE ANOTHER DOG!!! And not just 1 dog, but 4 DOGS!!! I too my time smelling him all over. It certainly cooled my response to him being home, but I was glad to have him home anyway. After that, things were better. He sat down at the computer and started playing a game. Not work, but it's still the same thing to me... sitting in the chair ignoring me. About lunchtime we went for a walk, which was nice since I didn't get one in the morning. Well, it was a short walk, like it was morning, and I was not happy about that. Then, we come back home and he puts my collar on me. I'm thinking, "food run!" Yes indeed, we get in the truck and head out. The truck was HOT inside, but he put the wind on me and that started feeling better. More bad then, because we went to the place that doesn't even care that I am in the truck and waiting for My order, let alone his. Well, Daddy gave me a treat, but I wanted one from the window and it just didn't happen. I think this is because there is only one window at this place and not two like at the other place. So, back home we go.
No, not back home we go. He started driving, and eating, and driving more. We drove a long time, and I had to sit there and smell all of that food, and then all of the food was gone (and not a scrap left for me) and all I could do was lay there and wait. FINALLY we stopped, but Daddy was talking on the phone. Well, talk about surprised, we were at Mommy's school! Cool! I get to see Mommy! I was all wiggles and grins, but then things went different Again. There were kids in the room, and I mean a LOT of them. All wanting to touch me at once, and all I wanted to do was smell around (somebody had put something that smelled Really Good somewhere) and my other usual things when I come out there, but no. Sit on the table. Let the kid pet me. Eat a treat here and there (ok, so that was a good part, but still, what I had to endure to get those treats...) and just sit there. Finally, Daddy let me down and we went outside. Lots to smell, and at least I get to see all of the kids that make those smells. After a short time outside (and I do mean short) we went back inside. Daddy and I went over my Mommy's little room (she says office) and I got to lay down for a while without the kids being all over me. Oh, they still came over, one or two at at a time, but it was at least a break from the mob.
Finally, all of the kids left, but then so did Mommy! Daddy let me walk all around the room and smell whatever I wanted. There was something very interesting in a box, but I couldn't get into it. After a few minutes, Daddy and I got back into the truck (no Mommy) and started the long drive home. It was good to be home to my nice quiet house. Funny thing is, when Mommy got home I wasn't as excited to see her as I normally am. I mean, I had just seen her a little while before, so it wasn't like she had been gone all day.
Anyway, I slept good last night, and today I am back into my normal routine. I think tonight is the night that Mommy is usually out very late, but after all of the excitement yesterday, I'm not sure. I guess there's nothing to do but take a nap and see.

Ordering Breakfast
This morning, Daddy and I went for a drive. I had a sneaking suspicion that it was for him to go get breakfast, so I went along even though I decided to not go on my morning walk due to being up late last night and having my routine disrupted (Mommy was out quite late, but that's another story for another time.) Anyway, into the truck we went, and sure enough, he pulled up to the thing that talks to him by the pictures of food. He talked to the thing, and it just didn't seem to me like he had given them any instructions as to what I was wanting (biscuits, please) so I spoke up. Daddy seemed quite surprised and quickly told me to be quiet. It's not like I am a talker, so he really should let me have my say when I feel like saying it.
So, he drove around the corner and up to the little window, and there stands a nice man waiting to take the funny square thing from Daddy. Before Daddy can even hand him that thing, out comes two biscuits for me! Can we say "Jackpot!"? Well, I was quite happy! We pulled up to the next window (the food window) and Daddy said something about me needing "a third one, thanks..." and I have to say I got a little indignant. There was a biscuit with my name on it, and it was being denied to me! Anyway, I did get my usual treat for going on a ride, so I guess the trip wasn't a total loss. I did get a new skill, and I call that an accomplishment for all dogs! Rise up, fellow hounds, and give the talk box your food order!

Adventures in Walking
Yesterday the weather was a lot cooler, in fact it was raining in the morning. Daddy suggested that after dinner we all take a walk. Mommy was watching the news and saw that there was a patch of wet heading our way. Daddy got my leash and as we were heading out the door mentioned that it was raining, Mommy rolled her eyes at him and told him that she had just said that. So, they grabbed the umbrella, and we head out.
Because it was raining Daddy said that we were going to turn around at the corner. We were heading back and all of a sudden there was a BIG flash of light in the sky immediately followed by a loud BOOM! Daddy yelled at Mommy to get the umbrella down, and said that was only about a mile away. He started pulling on my leash and said let's go! So we high tailed it home. On our way home we heard another big boom, but didn't see any more flashes. When we got home Daddy set about turning the computers off (that is why I couldn't post this last night) and saying that he hoped there wasn't any damage and that it wasn't to late.
This morning Mommy and Daddy took me on a really long walk. It was nice out this morning with blue skies and clean air. There were a lot of good things to smell and I enjoyed the walk, even though toward the end I just wanted to find some shade and sit for a while, but I kept on going because Daddy said that we were not far from home.
Next time I'm not so sure that I will be as anxious to go for a walk when it is raining, and the air smells as it did last night. That flash of light (Mommy called it lightning), and those big booms (Daddy called them thunder) were scary.

Long Lonely Day
That vacation thing was great, I got into a nice routine. I would get let out of my sleeping house by Daddy, get breakfast, go outside, and then go back to sleep with Mommy for a few more hours. Then when Mommy got up I would get up with her and follow her all around the house. Don't get me wrong, I love Daddy, he's my Alpha in the house. But let's face it, I am more likely to get treats and other good stuff from Mommy, she is much more into the sharing thing than Daddy is, I think it is the kindergarten teacher in her.
Then today it all changed. Mommy let me out of my sleeping house, fed me breakfast, and let me outside before she went and got into the shower. No sleeping in! That should have been my first warning sign. After the shower Mommy was putting clothes on, drying her hair, and doing her other morning things. She didn't go out and have breakfast, play on the computer, or sit down in front of the TV. Then she gave me loves and said goodbye! She was gone all day! That's when it hit me that her vacation must be over. I moped, that's what Daddy calls it, around the house for most of the day, laying in front of the door so that I would be able to hear her when she came in. When I finally gave up and was in the office with Daddy for a while I heard her come home! I was so excited.
On to a few other things. I had been waiting for Mommy to download the camera to post some pictures, and she finally got around to it. I've been wanting to post some pictures, because someone once said that it makes the blog more interesting and makes people want to read it.
This first picture is of my playing with my green golf ball. I love this ball! As I chase it around it drops pieces of food out of it. How much better than that can you get. It's a great distraction for me when Mommy and Daddy have to leave.
My next pictures are of me at the last Beagle Meet up that we went to. The first picture shows what I love to do at the dog park, SMELL THINGS! Were you expecting something different? I know that some dogs go there to play, and I have on rare occasion been known to do a little bit of that, but I would just rather walk around and just follow my nose. The second picture here is of me telling Mommy and Daddy that I am ready to go.
Oh, Mommy and I are all caught up on our guilty pleasure of reading Fred and Hank Mark America (I have a link to it on the side here). Daddy just shakes his head when he sees it on the screen. Mommy has read him parts of it and he either has a good laugh, or just shakes his head and says "That's bad, that is just bad." I LOVE all of the pictures of Fred and Hank that the people put on the blog.
Well it is almost time for bed. I better sign off so that I can go and check the kitchen for crumbs.

Loving Fred and Hank
I'm really loving having Mommy home. Today my cousin came over and visited. She loves how soft my ears are! I got to go for a ride in the truck when we took her home. That meant an extra treat! I always get a treat when I get home from a ride.

Shopping Trip
Today Mommy and I went shopping. The first two stops were boring, I had to stay in the car, and Mommy didn't have any treats to give me. Our last stop was my FAVORITE stop! We went to PetSmart. I love that store. I like it because I get to go in and smell things, and try to get food from under the shelves. In my opinion the PetSmart we went to today was to clean, there was hardly anything on the floor for me to snack on. But as far as PetSmart experiences go, today was pretty far down on the list. When we went to check out the guy didn't even acknowledge me! Hello? I was sitting/standing there all cute and everything. He did not give me my well deserved treat, and I know that he had them there at the register, I could smell them. Luckily Mommy sensed my distress and when we got outside to the car she opened my new bag of treats and gave me one, well two actually, I was distressed after all.
Well I'm going to go for now, I just heard Daddy in the kitchen starting to make lunch, maybe I'll get lucky and he will drop something!
